SEASONED, SENSUAL & SPIRITUAL FOR 2012

I've been getting feedback on the title for my book... For those who have been offering ideas, I am very grateful!

Based on some ideas floating around, I've crafted a title for a series of late-summer workshops which may very well be closer to the message of my book, and perhaps a title that would strike a resonant chord with more people. Tell me what you think:

"SEASONED, SENSUAL & SPIRITUAL: Co-Creating Our New Humanity Beyond 2012"

Here's the message: as we enter our 50's, 60's and 70's, we have been "saged" and "seasoned" by our life's experiences. Often, however, we have also turned off some of the burners of our sensuality; for some, active sexual activity has either slowed or stopped. In the "seasoned" stages of our lives, we often lose touch with being fully engaged with all of our senses. When that happens, we are not in an optimum energetic position to be fully awake, aware, and conscious. In order to take full advantage of our being "seasoned" and "sages" at the later decades of our lives, we owe it to ourselves to re-engage (or engage fully for the first time in our lives) with our sensual selves. That engagement could be ignited by inviting sexual passion into our lives; that sexual energy is an essential part of who we are and it is important that we acknowledge that energy and choose to channel it in productive and creative ways. By being in touch with each of our senses, we begin to expand our consciousnessness, level by level, step by step. By being fully alive as sensual beings, we then become engaged and evolving spiritual beings.

As I approach my seventh decade, I can tell you from experience that being a "sage" and a "seasoned woman" has enhanced my vitality and self-confidence. There is so much I have experienced and in which I am experienced; I have entered a phase of life which many call the "age of mastery". It goes with the territory.

Along the way, however, I had turned off some of my sensual channels: I had locked up my sexual energies for many years. It was only after my beloved husband's death that I decided to invite passion back into my life. Having a sweet lover for the first time in many years ignited by sexual and sensual sensitivities in ways I really had not remembered ever feeling them in earlier years. It became a revelation to me that a woman in her 60's could feel such passion and sensuality. And with that re-engagement with my sensuality, I began to experience my ability to also connect with my spiritual self in ever-deepening ways, as well.

Tara Marino talks about the SEVEN senses, as she explores the nature of our Sensuality. It is the sixth and seventh senses which are especially central for accessing our spirituality: these are the senses of intuition and the sense of receiving. What I have learned is that until I can access my intuitive sensitivity, I cannot stretch even further in developing my awareness and consciousness. In order to be the fully-engaged mind-body-spirit human being which I am, I have the opportunity to open my energetic and intentional channels to receiving all that there is.

In James Redfield's newest book, "The Twelfth Insight", he talks about "anticipating synchronicity" and remaining open to having "conscious conversations". This is all about being open to receiving all that is already there. It is about keeping our intuitive channels open to receiving the intuitive messages that others have for us, about receiving the awareness that comes to us when we are poised and "anticipating synchronicity". It is about being ready to allow the gifts and opportunities to come to us.

You and I are living in mind-blowing extraordinary times: we are hearing everywhere about how this is the time for human consciousness evolution -- a form of "evolution" of awareness and consciousness which has never before in human history been possible. We are at a cross-roads of human development, looking at opportunities for extreme longevity which call into question a deeper question: "why would we want to live longer lives?" Many people, when asked about living into their hundreds and beyond, may laugh and dismiss that possibility as a pipe dream. But scientists are telling us it is not a pipe dream. It is not science fiction. It is real. You and I could very well live way beyond 100. And with vitality and vigor and full function.

To accomplish what you and I are each here in this body at this time in history to accomplish, we have choices: how to take care of ourselves, how to engage with our senses, and how to develop and grow our consciousness.

Let's look at the "what is so": we are living in a body. This body is a tool. You are not your body, but you have a body. You are not your mind, but you have a mind. You are not your brain, but you have a brain. The question is, HOW do we use our tools? To me, the answer is: fully. Use all of whatever is right in front of our faces; whatever is in our repertoire of tools. Basic to our tools is our Sensual self. Also basic to our tools is our "saging" self: we are wise and experienced in our lives. We are masters ready to use our mastery in the service of the next step.

As sages and seasoned masters, our challenge is to engage all of our senses: the five basic ones of seeing, hearing, touching, smelling and tasting; plus our intuitive sense; finally, our seventh sense of receiving. Receiving the "knowing" that comes through our intuitive channels and reaches way beyond into realms of consciousness the Quantum physicists call "parallel universes". Way out? Yes... And it's all here for us to receive...

To be continued...

Blessings and hugs,
Sheila
